Trip to Bill's Restaurant

Created by Elise 6 years ago

My daughter Maddy (she always referred to Janette by her full title of Great-Great Aunty Janette) and I last visited Janette in the summer of 2015.

Janette had booked a table for us at Bill's restaurant across the road which had recently opened. We had a lovely meal, Maddy (then 12 years) was impressed with the fish-finger sandwiches on the menu, the pink lemonade and ice-cream sundae.

When the bill arrived at the end of the meal, Janette checked it and noticed that we had been charged for two coffees instead of one and pointed this out to the staff. She tried to pay for the meal by cheque, but unfortunately they didn't accept them. I explained to the staff that Janette was 98 years old and they were amazed. I paid the bill and Janette insisted on paying me back, making me promise that I would cash the cheque and that she would be checking to make sure that I did.

Later on when we headed back to our hotel, Janette insisted on seeing us to the bus stop. After she had done that, Maddy and I gave her a head-start and followed her back to her flat to ensure she got home safety (we attracted some strange looks from the neighbours who were wondering what we were doing).

Much love Elise xx
