I first met Janette when she joined a group reading the whole of Proust's great novel together. She made a great contribution and thereafter ran and attended countless classes as wellas being a'regular' at the residential summer schools. Everywhere her quiet wisdom and sense of humour was so appreciated. She instinctively grasped the radical nature of the movement and also brought her financial expertise to the role of Treasurer in her own U3A. On her 100 th birthday a small delegation met in her flat for a delightful visit . We will miss her sso much
